BYB Admission Procedures
Eligibility Requirements
Applications are welcome from strongly motivated individuals who possess the required qualifications. Bihar Yoga Bharati seeks to admit a diversity of students with a broad range of interests and backgrounds whom it feels can benefit from this unique environment and way of life.
In order to gain admission to any of the BYB courses, it is necessary to submit a completed application form, together with supporting documents of the applicant’s academic record, and to pass the selection test along with the interview.
The Institute is currently undergoing course restructuring and is offering the three fully residential courses in Yogic Studies: Four Month Course in Yogic Studies.
Minimum qualifications
A minimum academic standard of education is required for each course.
Four Month Course in Yogic Studies
Applicants for the Course in Yogic Studies - 4 Months must have completed their 10th year of formal education (e.g. Secondary School, Year 10 or 5th Form, etc.).
Minimum Age
Four Month Course in Yogic Studies: 18 years
Health Requirements
There is no upper age limit fixed for the course, however, all candidates must be physically and mentally fit in order to participate fully in the activities of the gurukul lifestyle and all practical and theoretical classes. The first class begins at 5.00 am and the daily activities continue through to 7.30 pm.
English Language Requirements
The medium of instruction at BYB is English; with the exception of the Four Month Yogic Studies Course, which is taught in both Hindi and English at different times of the year. If English is not the native or spoken language of their area or country, students applying for the One Year Yogic Studies Course must demonstrate competence in both verbal and written English at a standard acceptable for admission, by providing us with a certificate of proficiency from a recognised institution.
Applicants should also be prepared to pass an English language test on arrival, as there are no language teaching facilities built into the courses.
N.B.: If it is found (during orientation) that your English or Hindi language skills lack the required proficiency for the course, Bihar Yoga Bharati reserves the right to revoke your selection for a place. To avoid disappointment, please consider carefully whether your language skills are sufficient for the yogic scriptural language and study at this level.
