BYB Admission Procedures
Application Deadline
Indian applicants
Applications from residents of India must be received not later than two months (60 days) prior to the commencement of the course.
Overseas applicants
Applications from overseas candidates for all courses must be received not later than three months (90 days) prior to the commencement of the course. Applications take two weeks to process from the date of receipt, not including mailing time (which can be very slow). Very early applications may not be assessed until six months before the commencement of the course.
For application purposes only, all courses start on the first of the month. Actual commencement dates will be advised two to three months beforehand and will generally fall in the first week of the month.
Application Assessment
The Institute will assess each application on its merits based on supporting documentation. Applicants will then be issued with either:
- a provisional acceptance letter, or
- a request for additional supporting information.
Applicants will be informed in their acceptance letter of the commencement date of their chosen course and of the date of their Selection Test and Ashram Life Adaptability Interview.
N.B.: All applicants must submit their completed application package by post. Faxed copies of any documents are not acceptable.
Selection Test and Adaptability to Ashram Life Interview
All candidates must sit for the Selection Test and Adaptability to Ashram Life Interview. Bihar Yoga Bharati will take no responsibility and can make no allowances for any substantial language difficulties experienced by students who have enrolled in English medium courses (see English Language Requirements).
Both the test and the interview will be held at the Ganga Darshan ashram campus approximately one week prior to the commencement of the course. The selection test is of 1½ hours duration. The interview is of approximately 15 minutes duration and provides candidates and staff with an opportunity to assess whether the ashram environment of Ganga Darshan will suit prospective students. No preparation is required for either the test or the interview.
The selection test is aimed mainly at preserving an adequate standard of English/Hindi language ability according to the course medium. The interview is aimed mainly at ensuring that students will be adaptable enough to complete the course, which is fully residential and often requires, as well as engendering, significant adaptability.
Orientation week
A compulsory orientation week takes place after the test and interview have been held for the successful applicants. During this orientation week the selected students will have a further opportunity to assess their ability to adapt to the ashram environment before final registration and the commencement of the course.
Admission
At the end of orientation week students will be required to finalise their enrolment. At this time, all relevant documents supporting the application must be presented in the original or as certified copies. In the absence of originals, copies must be certified by the issuing institution with an accompanying letter on institution letterhead. In addition, students must submit the balance of their course fees.
N.B.: Bihar Yoga Bharati reserves the right to reject any application at any stage without prior notice.
