This is an invitation to all of you to take the initiative to inform the public at large about the plans of Bihar School of Yoga for the next three years.
This year we are celebrating the Golden Jubilee of our monthly magazines Yoga and Yoga Vidya. For the last fifty years, these magazines have been the medium through which the teachings of our gurus, Swami Sivanandaji and Swami Satyanandaji, and the teachings of yoga, have been propagated. In this Golden Jubilee year of their publication, we have started bringing out two new, bi-monthly magazines, in both Hindi and English.
Yoga and Yoga Vidya carry the message of yoga, as developed, taught and propagated by Bihar School of Yoga, by Bihar Yoga Bharati, by Yoga Research Foundation and by Yoga Publications Trust. These magazines are devoted exclusively to the propagation of yoga as conceived by our guru Swami Satyananda and our paramguru Swami Sivananda.
This year Rikhia has started publishing a bi-monthly magazine by the name of Aradhana, which contains information on the activities, work and inspirations of Rikhiapeeth, Sivananda Math and Sivananda Ashram.
The other magazine is from Sannyasa Peeth, called Avahan, Invoking the Divine. It contains the vision of Swami Sivananda and Swami Satyananda for the upliftment of humanity. The ongoing activities of Sannyasa Peeth.
The subscribers to Yoga and Yoga Vidya will receive both new magazines as prasad, without further subscription.
From January to June 2013, the sannyasins of Bihar School of Yoga, Ganga Darshan, Munger, will be traveling for six months, through each and every state, city, and village in India, conducting yoga programs, lectures, demonstrations, seminars and workshops, with the aim of introducing the system of the Bihar Yoga Satyananda Yoga tradition and propagating the upcoming World Yoga Convention.
If you are keen and interested in organizing a yoga program in your area, surrounding areas, or in places where you have friends and associates who are also interested in yoga, please contact the ashram, and once arrangements are finalized the sannyasins will commence travels. The sannyasins will not be traveling as yoga teachers, they will be representing a tradition.
The Golden Jubilee Year of Bihar School of Yoga – 2013 will begin at the time of Basant Panchami, its Foundation Day, and it will conclude with the World Yoga Convention. During Basant Panchami in Munger we have always had the worship, the aradhana of Sri Yantra. This has been happening for many years, but it was never publicized. Today I am informing you of this event, and asking you to inform all your friends, well-wishers and yoga aspirants to participate in the Golden Jubilee celebrations which will be held here during 2013.
In July, during Guru Poornima Bihar School of Yoga will offer its respect to the tradition of gurus, who are the inspirers and motivators of this institution.
In September, the Lakshmi Narayana Maha Yajna will be held. It was held last year for the first time and is an annual event of Sannyasa Peeth.
From 23rd October to 27th October, the World Yoga Convention will take place. It is the Kumbha Mela of yoga, held every twenty years. The Kumbha Mela is held every twelve years, but the ‘Yoga Kumbha Mela’ is held every twenty years in Munger.
The first convention was conducted by our paramguru Swami Sivanandaji in 1953, in Rishikesh. The second World Yoga Convention was conducted in 1973 by our guru Swami Satyananda, in Munger. The third World Yoga Convention was conducted in 1993 by Swami Niranjan, in Munger, and the fourth yoga convention is being conducted in 2013 by Swami Suryaprakash, in Munger.
We are currently compiling the teachings of our guru, Swami Satyanandaji, and our paramguru Swami Sivanandaji, which means that about one hundred to two hundred books will be published, including new publications, as well as a similar number of CDs and DVDs, containing their satsangs, inspirations and covering all subjects and aspects of yoga.
We are seeking the cooperation of interested people who can contribute effectively and efficiently to this project. We need translators who can translate from English to Hindi and from Hindi to English. We need skilled people who work with audio and video projects. We need people who can convert the old films into DVDs, as they contain the original teachings of our guru Sri Swamiji.
If you can find time this year and next year to help us with your skills for 10 or 15 days, one month or one week, be in touch with the ashram.
For the World Yoga Convention we need your cooperation and assistance, in whichever area you can participate. We need volunteers to be here at least one or two months before the actual convention. If you think you can become a volunteer, who can take initiative and responsibility and complete the given assignment with joy and happiness and not with a grumpy face, you are welcome, whenever possible.
After the convention in 2014, it is my intention to travel through each and every village, town and city of India, state by state: Take the car, go to each and every village, town, city, hamlet, meet with people and share with them the inspiration and the prasad, the grace and the blessings of the World Yoga Convention.
With that, I will also close a chapter in my life related to Bihar School of Yoga and Ganga Darshan and begin a new chapter of my life by walking the path that my guru has given to me.
I am very grateful to God and to guru for having given me such beautiful people in the Sannyasa Trainees, who are going to represent the tradition, and work in the projects that we are eagerly looking forward to.
Hari Om Tat Sat
