Connection indicates that you identify with something which you are. Connection is when you see yourself in the other person. Something that is yours, a feeling, a sentiment, an aspiration, an intention, something with which you identify. When you see the other person representing a part of that, connection happens. You can even say it is some type of compatibility. There are many people who connect, yet there is no compatibility. There are people who fall in love, marry and after a few months or a few years, what happened to that feeling of love and connection which they felt? It does not exist anymore and separation happens. It is not the connection, which leads to some type of gratification, that we are talking about. Real connection is much deeper, based on an understanding, a feeling and the realization that I see what I need represented in that person.
In connection to the ashram, Sri Swamiji, the tradition and people, we can infer that it is not something which is emotional or material, but something which is more internal. That internal connection is based on a belief, trust and faith.
If I look at my own life, right from the beginning until now, I have always known that I trust this person, knowing fully well that this person will never take me on the wrong path, will always help me, encourage me and inspire me to break the boundaries which I have created for myself. So, trust here is the foundation. Belief is the foundation, knowing that this person will never mislead me. That is good enough for my trust, my belief and my connection. If the trust is not there, then connection also does not exist.
